Community Guidelines

A community worth protecting.

MyTUP Social is built for connection, participation and useful campus interaction. These Community Guidelines explain the standards that apply when you post, comment, message, stream, join groups, list items, share media or otherwise participate on the platform.

Effective 1 September 2026 · Applies across the MyTUP Social app, web experience and connected community features.
The standard

Six principles for participating well.

These principles apply across every format—from a quick reaction or direct message to a public post, marketplace listing, group discussion or live stream.

01

Respect people

Disagree with ideas without attacking, humiliating, threatening or targeting the person behind them.

02

Protect safety

Do not use the platform to promote violence, exploitation, dangerous conduct or harm to yourself or others.

03

Protect privacy

Share personal information carefully and never expose someone else’s private information without a legitimate basis or consent.

04

Be authentic

Use the platform honestly. Do not impersonate people or offices, run scams, fabricate identity or manipulate engagement.

05

Keep it useful

Avoid spam, repetitive promotion, fake engagement, deceptive links and low-value behavior that degrades the community experience.

06

Take responsibility

You are responsible for what you publish, share, sell, stream or send through your account—even when content is reposted from elsewhere.

Detailed rules

What belongs here—and what does not.

Context matters, but the direction is simple: MyTUP Social should make it easier for the TUP community to connect without making other people less safe, less private or less able to participate.

01

Harassment, bullying and hate

Do not target people with repeated abuse, intimidation, humiliation, degrading insults or coordinated attacks. Criticism and disagreement are allowed; harassment is not.

  • No bullying, threats, stalking, dog-piling or calls for others to harass someone.
  • No hateful attacks or dehumanizing content directed at people because of protected or vulnerable characteristics.
  • No sexual harassment, unwanted sexual comments, coercive behavior or non-consensual sexualized content.
  • No posts created mainly to ridicule, expose or shame a private person.
02

Threats, violence and dangerous behavior

Do not threaten physical harm, celebrate real-world violence, organize violent activity or encourage dangerous conduct. Content documenting a serious event for legitimate informational, educational or safety purposes may be treated differently from content that glorifies or encourages harm.

  • No credible threats or instructions intended to facilitate violence.
  • No encouragement of dangerous challenges, reckless behavior or acts likely to cause physical injury.
  • No praise, recruitment or operational support for violent extremist activity.
03

Child and youth safety

Sexual exploitation, grooming, sexualization of minors, child sexual abuse material and attempts to obtain sexual material from minors are prohibited. These issues are treated as high priority and may be escalated where required by law or appropriate for safety.

See the dedicated Child Safety Standards for the platform’s specific safety expectations and reporting routes.

04

Privacy, doxxing and consent

Do not publish or threaten to publish sensitive personal information in a way that could expose someone to harm, harassment, fraud or unwanted contact.

  • No home addresses, private phone numbers, passwords, access credentials, government identifiers or financial information shared to target another person.
  • Do not secretly share intimate images or private communications where sharing would violate another person’s rights or reasonable expectation of privacy.
  • Use care when filming or streaming in classrooms, offices, residences or other spaces where people may reasonably expect privacy.

For information about platform data practices, read the Privacy Policy.

05

Identity, impersonation and deceptive behavior

Do not pretend to be another student, employee, organization, TUP office, public authority or CommunityStack representative. Parody or commentary should be clear enough that a reasonable person would not mistake it for an official identity.

  • No phishing pages, fake login screens, credential theft or deceptive links.
  • No scams, fraudulent fundraising, false prize claims or payment schemes.
  • No fake accounts or coordinated behavior designed to mislead people about who is speaking or how popular content really is.
06

Spam, manipulation and artificial engagement

Community tools should not be overwhelmed by repetitive, automated or manipulative activity. Do not post the same content repeatedly, mass-message unsolicited promotions, buy or sell fake engagement, or coordinate artificial reactions, comments or follows.

Promotional content should be relevant, transparent and proportionate. Accounts that exist primarily to spam the community may be restricted.

07

Sexual content and exploitation

MyTUP Social is a university community platform, not an adult-content service. Pornographic content, sexual services, sexual exploitation, sextortion and non-consensual intimate imagery are not appropriate for the platform.

Educational, health, newsworthy or documentary discussion may be permitted when the context is legitimate and the presentation is not exploitative.

08

Self-harm and suicide

Supportive conversations about mental health and recovery are welcome. Content that encourages, celebrates, instructs or pressures someone to self-harm is not. Where there appears to be an immediate real-world danger, contact local emergency services or an appropriate trusted person rather than relying on a social-platform report alone.

09

Academic integrity and university systems

MyTUP Social should help students learn and connect—not bypass academic rules or security controls. Do not use the platform to sell exam answers, distribute stolen assessment material, solicit unauthorized access to university systems, share account credentials or facilitate academic misconduct.

Questions about official academic rules, student discipline or university procedures should be checked against the official TUP website and applicable university policies.

10

Marketplace, transactions and prohibited goods

If you use marketplace or transaction-related features, describe items honestly and deal fairly. Do not list stolen or counterfeit goods, weapons, illegal drugs, sexual services, fraudulent documents or other goods or services that are unlawful or inappropriate for a university community platform.

Never send money, credentials or sensitive information merely because another user pressures you to act quickly. Report suspicious listings or payment requests through Support.

11

Copyright, ownership and other people’s work

Post material you created, are authorized to share, or are legally permitted to use. Do not upload another person’s photos, videos, lectures, documents, music, software or creative work in a way that infringes their rights.

Attribution does not automatically create permission. If you are unsure, link to the original source or obtain authorization before reposting substantial material.

12

Live streams, groups, messages and every other format

The same standards apply regardless of format. A rule does not stop applying because content is temporary, sent by direct message, shared in a private group, broadcast live, embedded in a profile, or posted as a comment, clip, image or listing.

Private or limited-audience spaces are not a license for harassment, exploitation, fraud or other prohibited conduct.

High-risk violations

Some conduct can require immediate action.

Severity, context, credible risk and repeated behavior matter. The categories below can justify rapid removal, restriction or escalation because the downside of leaving them unaddressed is high.

Child sexual exploitation or grooming

Including sexualization of minors, solicitation, exploitative imagery or attempts to move a minor into unsafe private communication.

Credible threats or imminent violence

Threats, instructions or coordination that create a credible risk of physical harm to a person or community.

Non-consensual intimate content

Sharing, threatening to share or using intimate material to shame, coerce or extort another person.

Credential theft, fraud or account compromise

Phishing, stolen accounts, malicious links, impersonation used for fraud, or attempts to access systems without authorization.

Reporting & control

You should be able to control your experience.

Reporting and blocking are core safety tools for a user-generated-content platform. Use them early rather than allowing an abusive interaction to escalate.

01

Report content or a user

Use the report control available in MyTUP Social when content or conduct appears to violate these Guidelines. For additional help, go to Support.

02

Block where appropriate

If you do not want another person to interact with you, use available blocking controls. Blocking is separate from reporting; a serious violation should still be reported.

03

Preserve useful context

When reporting a serious issue, include the relevant account, post, message, date or context where possible. Do not publicly repost harmful material merely to prove that it exists.

04

Use the right emergency channel

MyTUP Social support is not an emergency service. For imminent danger, suspected crime or urgent health and safety situations, contact appropriate local emergency services or university authorities directly.

Enforcement

Enforcement should match the risk.

Not every mistake is equal. Decisions can consider severity, context, intent, repeated behavior, account history, the people affected and whether there is an immediate safety or legal risk.

Possible platform actions

Depending on the circumstances, CommunityStack may take one or more actions to protect the service and its users.

  • Issue a warning or request corrective action.
  • Remove or restrict access to content.
  • Limit specific platform features or interactions.
  • Temporarily suspend or permanently disable an account.
  • Preserve or disclose information where legally required or necessary under applicable law and policy.

Severe or repeated abuse

Serious safety violations, fraud, exploitation, credible threats, coordinated abuse or repeated disregard for the rules may justify stronger action without a progressive warning sequence.

  • Severity can matter more than the number of prior violations.
  • Deleting a post after it is reported does not necessarily erase the underlying violation.
  • Creating another account to evade a restriction may trigger additional enforcement.
Important distinction

Platform rules do not replace University rules.

These Community Guidelines govern participation on MyTUP Social. They are not the Technological University of the Philippines Student Handbook, an academic policy, a disciplinary code, an admissions rule or an official University decision-making process.

Conduct can still be subject to applicable TUP policies, Philippine law or other rules outside MyTUP Social. For authoritative university information, use the official TUP website and the appropriate TUP office.

MyTUP Social is owned and operated for the Technological University of the Philippines by CommunityStack. For platform terms, privacy and account matters, use the links below.

Questions

Community Guidelines FAQ.

These answers explain how the standards work at a practical level. For account-specific matters or a report that requires review, use Support.

Can I criticize TUP, a policy, an organization or another user?

Yes. Criticism, disagreement, debate and negative opinions are not automatically violations. The line is crossed when expression becomes targeted harassment, threats, privacy abuse, hateful attacks, impersonation, fraud or other prohibited conduct.

Does reporting something guarantee it will be removed?

No. A report asks for review; it does not automatically prove a violation. Context and the applicable rule matter. You can also use blocking controls to manage your own interactions.

Do these rules apply to private messages and groups?

Yes. The standards apply across MyTUP Social formats, including private or limited-audience spaces. Visibility can affect context, but it does not make harassment, fraud, exploitation or threats acceptable.

What should I do if someone is impersonating a TUP office or official?

Report the account or content and avoid sending credentials, money or sensitive information. Verify official instructions through TUP’s official channels when there is any doubt.

Can CommunityStack change these Guidelines?

Yes. Community standards may be updated as the platform, risks, legal requirements and product features evolve. Material changes should be reflected on this page with an updated effective or revision date.

Where do I go for a moderation or account question?

Use the Support page. For privacy questions, read the Privacy Policy; for account deletion, use the Delete Account page.
