How MyTUP Social, MyTUP Web and the LMS Work Together

MyTUP is not a single screen or one-purpose website. It is a connected digital ecosystem with separate experiences for community activity, browser access and learning. Understanding the role of each surface makes the platform easier to use and prevents students from looking for academic functions in community spaces or community tools inside the learning environment.

MyTUP is not a single screen or one-purpose website. It is a connected digital ecosystem with separate experiences for community activity, browser access and learning. Understanding the role of each surface makes the platform easier to use and prevents students from looking for academic functions in community spaces or community tools inside the learning environment.

MyTUP Social: the community experience

MyTUP Social is designed around people and campus interaction. This is where community activity lives: posts, conversations, messages, groups, campus discovery, events and other social features that help members of the TUP community stay connected.

The platform is useful for the part of university life that happens outside formal academic transactions. Students may use it to discover what people are discussing, participate in community conversations, find activities or communicate with other users.

For a detailed feature list, visit MyTUP Features.

MyTUP Web: browser access

MyTUP Web provides access to the community experience through a modern browser. This is useful for students who prefer a larger screen, are using a desktop or laptop, or do not want to install a mobile app.

Because the Web experience is browser-based, it can also serve as a practical fallback when a mobile device is unavailable. Users can open MyTUP Web directly.

MyTUP LMS: the learning environment

The LMS has a different job. It is for structured learning activity rather than general community interaction. When coursework, classes, academic materials or learning-related tasks are the priority, the LMS is the appropriate environment.

This separation matters. A community platform should not pretend to be the Registrar, admissions office or academic records system. Likewise, an LMS should not have to carry the entire social life of a university community.

Why the separation is useful

Students have different digital needs throughout the day. A typical journey might look like this:

  1. Open MyTUP Social to check community activity and messages.
  2. Discover an announcement or discussion relevant to campus life.
  3. Move into the LMS when it is time to study or complete learning-related work.
  4. Use MyTUP Web later from a laptop for community access on a larger screen.

By giving each environment a clear purpose, the ecosystem avoids forcing unrelated functions into one interface.

Where official university functions fit

Some student needs are not handled by any MyTUP community surface. Admissions decisions, official enrollment processes, transcripts, grades, university records, scholarships and formal administrative requests remain with the relevant TUP office or official TUP system.

The Student Resources directory is designed to help students find the right official destination. The Campus Guide can help users identify the appropriate campus source.

Accounts, privacy and security

Users should protect their login details across every digital surface. Never post passwords, authentication codes or sensitive records publicly. Review the Privacy Policy for information about data handling and the Community Guidelines for platform conduct.

If you experience a platform-specific issue, use MyTUP Support. Official university concerns should be directed to TUP.

Which one should you use?

Use MyTUP Social when your goal is community interaction.

Use MyTUP Web when you want browser-based access to that community experience.

Use the MyTUP LMS when learning and coursework are the priority.

Use official TUP channels when the issue concerns formal university records, decisions or administration.

If you are still unsure where to start, the How MyTUP Works guide provides a step-by-step overview of the ecosystem.
